clerk nabbed for bribery of Rs. 500 on complaint of 32 year old law student in a prominent law college in city

kolhapur : The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Kolhapur, India, on March 1, 2024, arrested Sopan Dhondiram Mane, a 54-year-old junior clerk at the New Law College of Bharati Vidyapeeth, Kolhapur, while accepting a bribe of Rs 500 from a 32-year-old man, a third-year student at the college, to expedite the release of his exam results.

The complainant had approached Mane after his final year exam results were delayed due to administrative reasons, and Mane demanded a bribe of Rs 500 to release the results quickly. The complainant then contacted the ACB, who laid a trap and caught Mane red-handed while accepting the bribe. The ACB has registered a case against Mane and is taking further legal action.

The ACB has also urged citizens to report any government officials or employees who demand bribes beyond legal fees to the department, assuring them that filing a complaint will not hinder their government work. This incident highlights the issue of corruption in the education sector, and the ACB deserves appreciation for their prompt action in apprehending the accused.

This is second such incident in a week in which public servent has been nabbed by the Anti corruption bureau
