Record-breaking human rangoli: this is second event in India after Chennai
Record-breaking human rangoli Kolhapur : In a bid to promote voter awareness, 10,495 students from 38 schools in Kolhapur city formed a massive human rangoli at Gandhi Maidan on Tuesday. The event was organized under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program for the upcoming Lok Sabha
The students created a rangoli depicting the importance of voting and the message “Vote for a Better Future.” The event was witnessed by District Collector Amol Yedge. Municipal Commissioner K. Manjulakshmi, CEO Santosh Patil, and other officials were also present.
Record-breaking achievement
The event was recognized by the Global Records and Research Foundation as a “National Record” and an “Asia Pacific Record.” This is the first time such an event has been organized in India after Chennai in 2019.
District Collector lauds students’ efforts
District Collector Amol Yedge congratulated the students, teachers, and parents for their participation in the event. He said that this initiative would send a strong message to voters and encourage them to participate democratic process.
Encouraging voter turnout
The main objective of the event was to encourage maximum voter turnout in the Lok Sabha elections 2024. The organizers hope that this record-breaking achievement will inspire citizens to exercise their right to vote and strengthen democracy.

The event was also attended by Additional Superintendent of Police Jayshree Desai, Additional Municipal Commissioner Keshav Jadhav, Deputy Collector Sampat Khilari, District Registrar and Nodal Officer for SVEEP Neelkanth Kore, and Global Records and Research Foundation Observer Dr. Mahesh Kadam.

District Registrar and Nodal Officer for SVEEP Neelkanth Kore, Assistant Nodal Officer Varsha Parit, and Mr. Dhaygude played a key role in planning and organizing the event.
