Revenue department on ACB Radar

Kolhapur: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a Talathi and a Revenue Assistant in Kolhapur for demanding a bribe of ₹27,500 from a 34-year-old resident of Jaysingpur.

Accused:

  • Swapnil Vasantrao Ghatge, Talathi Jaysingpur, Shirol taluka, Kolhapur district (age 39)
  • Shivaji Nagnath Itlawar, Revenue Assistant, Tehsildar Office, Shirola (age 32)

Case:

The complainant had filed a petition regarding a discrepancy in the plot area of their relative’s property in the Dawari settlement of Jaysingpur. Talathi Ghatge demanded a bribe of ₹27,500 from the complainant to process the petition for land area correction and issuance of the updated “7/12” extract (land record document). Furthermore, Revenue Assistant Itlawar, acting on the instructions of Ghatge, demanded an additional ₹5,000 from the complainant.

ACB Action:

Following a complaint filed with the ACB, a trap was set, and both the accused were apprehended while accepting the bribe money.

A case has been registered against both the accused at the Jaysingpur police station

The ACB has urged all citizens to come forward and report any instance of bribery by government .
