Kolhapur Lok Sabha deadlock Resolved Kolhapur : The deadlock over the Kolhapur Lok Sabha constituency within Mahavikad aghadi has finally been resolved. Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena has agreed to give up the Kolhapur seat in favor of Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj. This paves the way for Shahu Maharaj to contest from the Mahavikas Aghadi alliance on Indian National Congress ticket.

Seat Swap Leads to Shiv Sena Resentment

However, this decision has caused discontent among Shiv Sainiks. In exchange for Kolhapur, the Shiv Sena will receive the Sangli seat, currently held by the Congress. This swap has triggered resentment within the Shiv Sena as they lost a seat that the party win in last parliamentary election. The Sangli seat also presents a challenge, as BJP’s Sanjay Kaka Patil has won there twice, defeating the grandsons of former Chief Minister Vasantdada Patil. Earlier Shivsena (UBT) Chief Udhhav Thackrey Threatned to not campaign in Western Maharashtra if the party not got the Kolhapur Seat.

Shahu Maharaj Hints at Upcoming Announcement

Shahu Maharaj, recently hinted about his likely candidature. He stated that he is more interested in social work, he would be happy to contest if the people of Kolhapur insist. He emphasized that his focus is on solving the problems of common people, not self-promotion. He also promised to make a further announcement soon.

NCP Supports Shahu Maharaj’s Candidature

Sharad Pawar, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), expressed his support for Shahu Maharaj’s potential candidacy. He acknowledged Shahu Maharaj’s dedication to social work but also stated his happiness if the people of Kolhapur choose him to represent them.
