New Delhi : In a major push for clean energy and energy independence of india, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana with a total outlay of ₹75,021 crore. This ambitious program aims to promote rooftop solar power installations in one crore (ten million) households across India with free electricity.
Anurag Thakur, Union Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy, hailed the scheme as a “game-changer” for India’s energy landscape. “This initiative will not only provide significant relief to households by reducing their electricity bills, but also contribute significantly to our clean energy goals and create new job opportunities,” he stated.

Application Process: While specific details are still being finalized, applications for the PM-Surya Ghar Yojana are expected to be available online and offline shortly.
