Kolhapur: Darshan Patil, a young footballer from Kolhapur, has made Maharashtra proud by becoming the first player from the state to play in the prestigious European League. Darshan hails from Deokar Panand area of Kolhapur city. He started playing football following in the footsteps of his uncle.He played in the Under-14 National Championships held in Delhi and also in the Under-19 National Championships. His family encouraged him to focus on football.

Darshan received a call from his coaches Pradeep Salokhe and Dhiraj Mishra, who informed him about the selection trials for SV Gmunden being held in Maharashtra.

When asked about his reaction to the news Darshan said that he had given his name and address during the trials, but he had no idea whether he had been selected or not.
He received a call from his coaches, who informed him about his selection. He was excited and immediately applied for a passport.
However, even after a month and a half, he had not received any official communication from the club. He began to think that it was all a hoax.
Finally, he received a call from Coach Kaushik, who asked him to come to Mumbai. He was given his jersey at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
