Gaur Attack kills woman Kolhapur : A 73-year-old woman was killed in a gaur indian bison attack in the Bhatwadi village of Bhudargad Taluka of Kolhapur district, , on Saturday.

The victim, Rajshree Madhukar Lad, was working in her field with her son Mohan when she was attacked from behind by the gaur, a large wild bovine.

Mohan tried to save his mother, but the gaur was too strong and she was killed on the spot.The gaur then fled into the nearby forest.

Forest department officials said that they have launched a search operation for the gaur and have warned villagers to be cautious.

Gaur attacks are not uncommon in India.

In 2022, there were 106 gaur attacks in Maharashtra, resulting in 22 deaths.
