Man Stabbed to Death Over Handcart Dispute

Victim succumbed to the injuries before arrival at the hospital

kolhapur: Imran Immmamuddin Mujawar (39, a resident of Aaram Corner) was brutally murdered on Tuesday night around 8:30 pm following a trivial dispute over setting up a handcart. This tragic incident took place near Aaram Corner on the bustling Shivaji Road amidst the fanfare of Ganesh Visarjan processions. Yusuf Alamjit (Daji) has been apprehended by the Old Rajwada police in connection with this crime.

Imran Mujawar owned a cutlery shop at Aaram Corner. On Monday, a heated argument had erupted between him and Yusuf over setting up a purse-selling stall adjacent to Imran’s shop. Yusuf harbored resentment over this incident. Around 8:30 pm on Tuesday, Yusuf called Imran on his mobile phone and inquired about his whereabouts. Within a mere two to three minutes, Yusuf arrived at Aaram Corner. Calling Imran aside, he punched him and then stabbed him with a knife. The fatal blow was inflicted directly on Imran’s chest, near his heart. Taken aback by the sudden attack, Imran attempted to retaliate. In his defense, Yusuf struck another blow, this time injuring Imran’s left arm. Despite the injuries, Imran continued to struggle with Yusuf.

As the altercation between Imran and Yusuf intensified, Javed Sheikh and Imran’s brother-in-law, Sohail Shabbir Mujawar, rushed to intervene from a nearby location. Both tried to break up the fight. Meanwhile, Imran collapsed, informing Sohail that he had been stabbed in the chest. CPR was immediately administered to Imran, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries within minutes.

A crowd gathered at the scene, and the citizens apprehended the suspect, who was subsequently handed over to the Old Rajwada police. Upon receiving information about the murder at Aaram Corner, the Old Rajwada police rushed to the scene and the location where CPR was being administered. The CPR site was also crowded with Imran’s relatives and friends, necessitating increased security. Imran was unmarried and is survived by three sisters and elderly parents. The heart-wrenching cries of his sisters at the CPR site were deeply distressing. The process of registering a case in connection with this incident continued late into the night.
