Leopard Attack on goat herd during night halt at the field

KOLHAPUR: A leopard attack on a herd of goats halted at open field for the night killed 19 goats on Thursday evening. The Horrific incident took place at the farm which is having local called Bagecha Mala in gogve village of Shahuwadi taluka, Kolhapur district,

The goats belonged to shepherds from earby Bambwade, Sarud, and Sonawade villages and were being stopped for night halt in the field owned by Ananda Keshav Patil of Gogve. The attack is estimated to have caused a loss of around Rs. 2 lakhs to the shepherds, identified as Balu Wagare, Sanjay Bandgar, Vilas Mundre, Avghd Wagare, and Kashinath Jankar.

According to locals, the attack took place around 7 pm. Forest Officer Amit Bhosale visited the pot and conducted a panchnama after receiving information about the incident.

The incident has created a sense of panic in the entire area. This comes just a day after a farmer was seriously injured in a leopard attack in Sonawade village of Shirala taluka on March 3.
