Manohar Joshi
Mumbai: Manohar Joshi, Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra and former Speaker of Lok Sabha passed away at the age of 86 on Friday. He breathed his last at Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai. On Wednesday, February 21, he was admitted to the hospital after suffering a heart attack. He breathed his last at 3 am today.
Manohar Joshi was one of Balasaheb Thackeray’s close associates. He was called ‘Joshi Sir’ in political circles. He was the Chief Minister of Maharashtra from 1995 to 1999. He was the first undivided Shiv Sena leader to hold the highest office in the state. His political journey was from Mayor to Chief Minister of Mumbai. He worked as a Rajya Sabha MP for 6 years. After being elected as an MP, he was the Speaker of the Lok Sabha from 2002 to 2004 when Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government was in power. (Manohar Joshi)
The mortal remains of Manohar Joshi will be kept at his present residence at Ruparel College, Matunga West from 11 am to 2 am. His funeral procession will leave at 2 pm. His body will be cremated in Dadar crematorium with state honors.
